The Most Common Languages Around The World!

All of us communicate with each other using some or the other language as a medium to tell our feeling, needs and many other thing. There are countless languages and dialects all over the world. I was fairly surprised to know that so widely accepted English is not the most spoken language in the world not even if we count in all the various dialects from around the different parts of the world, its not even second most common language. So which are these languages more common than English and which are other common languages, here is a list of Top-10 most common languages around the world.

10. PUNJABI – Punjabi is used by 102 million people which makes 1.44% of the world’s population. This language is commonly used in India and Pakistan, but only in Punjab region.

9. JAPANESE – This language is worlds ninth major language. Mainly spoken in japan, but a huge amount of Japanese migrants who live in other parts of the world also speaks in Japanese. Around worlds 1.9% persons use Japanese to communicate on a daily basis i.e. 125 million people uses this language.

8. RUSSIAN – In Russia, they call it “Russki yazyk” that means Russian language. This language is also taught in eastern Europe. European population which is resides near Russia also speaks in Russian. Around 155 million people communicates in Russian or in percentage around 2.33% talk in Russian. Russia, Ukraine, Commonwealth of Independent States are the common countries where the cultural language Is Russian.

7. PORTUGUESE – Portuguese is also known to be very romantic language. It is spoken in Portugal and Brazil, Portuguese colonial and formerly colonial territories. Around 3.27% of world population talks in Portuguese or we can say 215 million talk in Portuguese everyday to communicate with their pals and relatives. Portuguese is mainly spoken in Portugal, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Guinea-Bissau, Timor-Leste

6. ARABIC – Quran “sacred book of Islam” is written in Arabic language and it is also the religious language of the Muslim community. Around 295 million people round the world use Arabic as their mother tongue. Approx. 4.45% people of world population talk in Arabic. Mainly Arabic is used in Arab league, which includes Arabian peninsulas, middle east and north Africa also uses Arabic language.

5. BENGALI – Bengali, language also known as Bangla, is the state language of India and also an official language of Bangladesh. In India it is mainly used in the state of West Bengal, Tripura and Assam. Approx 300 million people use Bengali language to communicate in daily routine. And in world population around 4.57% people talks in Bengali.

4. HINDI – This is the official language of India, although India also has a cluster of languages. This language is a mother tongue of 310 million people approx or around 4.70% of world population. Mainly spoken in India, and Nepal. You can also find hindi speaking communities in South Africa, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Yemen, and Uganda.

3. ENGLISH – This language is a worldwide accepted language, which now seems a little awkward but it is also given the position of global lingua Franca. Native speakers of this language are around 360 million or in percent it’s around 5.43% of world population. Countries whose native language is English are the United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and Commonwealth of nations.

2. SPANISH {ESPANOL} – This world second largest spoken language. It is spoken by around 6.15% of the world population or around 405 million people speak this language. Mainly spoken in Spain, Mexico, United States, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela, Equatorial Guinea, and Western Sahara. We call it Romance language. And also known as Castilian.

1. MANDARIN CHINESE – This is the most commonly used language. It is spoken by around 14.4% of world population or 955 million speakers in overall world approximately. Mainly spoken in China, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia. This language is also known as northern Chinese, the most widely used language. It’s a mother tongue for more than two -third of the china’s population.
